The City of Palm Bay held its 8th annual Support Our Troops Rally on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Veterans Memorial Park, 2200 Port Malabar Blvd, NE., Palm Bay, Florida from 1pm – 3pm. Hands over hearts, salutes and many tears honored our American Flag and those who protect and serve our great country every day. Opened by Red Skelton and his view on our flag, attendees recited the Pledge of Allegiance, prayed, and began the activities.

The guest speaker was Admiral Leroy Collins, USN Ret. He spoke of our freedoms and liberties, and how freedom is not free. It is paid for dearly with the lives of our loved ones every day. There was a K-9 demonstration showing the attack command and the importance of dogs in law enforcement, a missing man flyover: four planes flew over the event together and one turned west signifying the ones that don’t come home. There was a bounce house and face/body painting for the children, music, free hot dogs, and an all round good patriotic time for all 200 + in attendance!

Check out Palm Bay Yard Sales Gallery for pictures on the event and Hope to see you there next year!

Palm Bay Garage SalesUpon the launch of Palm Bay Yard Sales, we had been in open communication with the City of Palm Bay in hopes that we could work together to create a known, free, and effective Yard Sale website.

During these open communications we requested that a link be placed on Palm Bay Garage Sales to direct residents to our website for even more functionality and benefit to the city resident. The reply was understandable, the City of Palm Bay was going to let the website go because of budgetary constraints.

Then, after some thought, we decided that it would be in the best interests of the residents that we maintain the website. We would keep the website exactly as it exists, and leave it running for the residents to use and enjoy. However, once we had offered to help we were told that the Canadian company that Palm Bay had hired had already taken possession.

Since they have taken possession, they have added banners and advertisements to the website in hopes they can earn revenue off of our residents. In addition, they are still using the Palm Bay Direct logo in a manner that suggests it is still owned and endorsed by the City of Palm Bay. We have actually questioned Palm Bay with no reply.

Please keep in mind, moving forward, that the Palm Bay Garage Sales website is no longer owned by the City of Palm Bay. However, Palm Bay Yard Sales is owned and operated by Palm Bay residents.
